Challenge

How do we manage to revolutionize established working models in the health industry?

Established working models in the healthcare industry often fail to meet modern demands for flexibility, efficiency, and user-centricity. Doctari, a platform connecting medical professionals with flexible job opportunities, wanted to redefine its position in this space with a coherent, future-ready digital presence built on a new brand foundation.

Approach

The project started before I joined, with RCKT developing the brand identity for Doctari from scratch: visual language, typography, color system, and core components. By aligning with Doctari's core brand values, the team identified their brand DNA and crafted a new purpose and brand story, translated into a consistent brand experience through words and visuals.

I joined as a Workingstudent to support the senior UX designer, learning the system, contributing new modules, and managing handoffs to the external development team at Flowsite. When the senior designer left, I stepped into the lead role and took full ownership of the product design going forward.

From that point I was responsible for the entire design process independently: conceptualising and building new modules within the established design system, maintaining visual and functional consistency across a live product, managing the client relationship directly, and translating requirements into developer tickets. Working within an existing system rather than starting from scratch came with its own challenges: every new module had to feel like it had always been there, respecting the grid, the fluid typography, and the brand rules while still solving new problems.

Result

The outcome is a growing, mobile-first website that works seamlessly across all breakpoints and continues to reflect Doctari's brand values as it scales. The design system I inherited became something I actively shaped, expanding it with new components while keeping it coherent. Managing this project end to end, from design to client communication to dev handoff and QA, is some of the most practical product experience I have, and the kind of work I want to keep doing.
