As part of an introduction to AR, I developed an experimental face filter using Meta Spark. Drawing from popular visual trends on social media, I incorporated heat distortion effects, a style widely perceived as visually dynamic and playful. The goal was to create a deliberate contrast between these trending aesthetics and a more urgent underlying message: raising awareness about climate change.
The concept works by drawing users in through a familiar visual language before gradually reframing their perception of heat, shifting it from something beautiful to something alarming. Through animation, sound, and typography, warmth is repositioned as a warning signal, with particular resonance in regions traditionally associated with cold climates.
